Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice!!!

I saw the original Beetlejuice movie when I was probably just a bit too young to fully appreciate all the jokes, but at this point it is definitely one of my all-time favorite weirdo movies. Alas, I never had any of the original toys made by Kenner back in 1989.

When the sequel was announced I was appropriately excited, and I’m pleased to report that I thought it was a fitting continuation of the story. No movie is perfect, and sequels rarely live up to the original films, but I have to say that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was entertaining and enjoyable, taking some big swings. And that’s what a sequel like this should do, right?

Anyway, when that movie was released, I revisited the original Kenner figures and immediately noticed a few things. First, there were some serious omissions in the line, notably pretty much all of the non-Beetlejuice main characters! I know this was still the era when toy companies rarely made female action figures, but the absence of a Winona Ryder figure is nearly unforgivable! And second, the head on the Adam Maitland figure had a super-strange elongated backward hat. Huh?

So I decided to make a new head for Adam, scan some of the original vehicle and playset parts and accessories, and of course create figures of the remaining main characters. You can download the files to print yourself or head over to my Etsy store to buy some printed figures!
